The Start of It All...

Last year, while sitting at lunch with my colleagues, someone mentioned that I should start my own blog. I declined that 'invitation' at the time. But today, the little man in the picture managed to do something that I just HAD to share with as many people as I could. So, today, thanks to Goosey, as he is so affectionately called by our family and his teachers at pre-school, I begin the first entry to my new blog.

You see, that innocent little face you see over there, was in 'time-out' when I arrived to pick him up. This is unusually. In the year and 2 months he's been there, this is only the second time. And before I could even ask why he was there, the teacher said "Thomas, tell Mommy why you are in time-out!" His deep blue eyes were brimming with tears - just ready to spill over, when he mumbled something that sounded like, "I pooped on the floor." I couldn't quite believe my ears so I looked over at the teacher and said, "I couldn't understand him." She said, "Oh yes, you understood him. He pooped on the floor in the bathroom. And, you're going to love the answer he gave me when I asked him 'Why?'"

Now, for those of you that know me, I have 3 older children and then one that is younger than Tommy. I'm usually prepared for just about anything (after all, his oldest brother once told a woman in the grocery store that she was "too fat to sit in the seat" where he was currently sitting). From across the room the teacher announces, "He said he pooped on the floor because that's what his dogs do!" I know I shouldn't have, but I laughed. I laughed out loud. A lot. Finally, I composed myself, "Well, they do." And she answered back, "It's the best answer I've ever gotten."

LOL Thank God for a sense of humor!

Yes, I got ahold of myself and made it perfectly clear that this was not acceptable behavior and that he would be in even more trouble if he ever did it again.

*sigh*

What we would we do without a good laugh from our kids once in a while? Even if we aren't supposed to laugh when it happens....
